ChatGPT leads LLM apps as Gemini gains share

·1 min read

LLM market share is split across consumer web demand and developer activity. The United States accounted for 85.5-90.5% of web visits across the measured months, reflecting the concentration of English-language consumer products and major platform bases. China showed a different pattern, with 50.9% of developer usage without BYOK in November 2025 but only 7.5% of web visits, pointing to heavier API and programmatic workloads.

ChatGPT remained the leading AI application, though its share fell from 72.5% in October 2025 to 60.5% in February 2026. Gemini took much of the shift, rising from 13.9% to 23.9%, supported by distribution and steady model improvements. Chat apps dominated the application landscape, accounting for 88-92% of market share, while ChatGPT and Gemini represented ~84% of the Chat category in February 2026.

At the AI lab level, OpenAI’s web visit share rose from 19.5% in November 2025 to 57.3% in February 2026, while Anthropic fell from 48.4% to 13.9%. Qwen’s developer usage without BYOK dropped from 39.3% to 3.6%, while Google increased from 16.7% to 25.7%, showing the most balanced growth across consumer and developer signals.
