BrainChip launches Raspberry Pi 5 development kit

·1 min read

BrainChip has launched the AKD1500 Raspberry Pi 5 Development Kit, pairing a Raspberry Pi 5 with its AKD1500 M.2 board. The package gives engineers, makers and product teams already working with Raspberry Pi an off-the-shelf platform for developing low-power, always-on AI applications. BrainChip positions the kit as a route from development to production using the same AKD1500 chip, rather than requiring teams to switch chips after prototyping.

Hellbender CEO Brian Beyer highlighted the value of evaluating edge AI on familiar hardware while maintaining a path to production. He described the kit as a promising option for robotics and vision applications being developed by Hellbender’s customers. The launch brings BrainChip’s event-based neuromorphic AI technology to a development platform already used by its intended engineering audience.
