HeyGen adds prompt-driven video creation and shortcuts

·1 min read

HeyGen 1.0 introduces Video Agent and Video Creation Shortcuts to its AI video app. Video Agent builds multi-minute videos from prompts, combining scenes, captions, transitions, b-roll and music. Users can revise scripts through text-based editing, incorporate uploaded photos and videos, or create projects from PDFs, presentations and pasted text. Shortcuts offer preset workflows for social clips, ads and explainers.

The app also supports video translation and dubbing in 175+ languages, with voice matching, lip alignment and translated captions. Avatar tools can animate a photo, while Digital Twin creates a personalized avatar from a short selfie video to reproduce a user’s appearance, voice and expressions. Instant Highlights turns longer videos into short clips.

User feedback points to potential friction around generation costs and control. A reviewer reported exhausting 150 credits while producing only a couple of short videos, saying revisions required fresh generation charges. Another reported unwanted generation that consumed credits, followed by a support refund. HeyGen acknowledged the credit complaint and invited the user to contact support. The developer declares that the app collects personal information, photos, videos and other data, encrypts data in transit and allows deletion requests.
