Espressif introduces ESP-Mosaico for AI-assisted hardware development
Espressif Systems has announced ESP-Mosaico, a modular development platform designed to let creators combine functional modules and multiple devices for AI-assisted hardware creation. Coding agents can understand the current hardware configuration and participate directly in application development, linking software work to the hardware a creator has assembled.
The platform supports complementary development approaches called Chat Coding and Vibe Coding. Chat Coding allows creators to begin with a natural-language request and build working hardware prototypes without setting up a local development environment. It provides a route from a description of the desired application to a functioning prototype.
Vibe Coding extends AI agent involvement further into the engineering workflow. Its scope includes implementation, deployment, testing on physical hardware, and continuous iteration. Together, the approaches support both natural-language-led prototyping and more involved development work tied to a configured hardware setup.
