HUMXN offers free home repairs to gather robot training data

·1 min read

AI lab HUMXN is offering qualifying homeowners free plumbing, electrical, HVAC, air-duct cleaning, and carpet cleaning in exchange for permission to record work inside their homes. The program is launching in three cities: Minneapolis, Chicago, and Miami. Wearable capture technology will collect footage of skilled technicians performing tasks to help train AI robots.

HUMXN says real homes provide conditions that are difficult to reproduce in a laboratory, including different equipment, repair problems, and working environments. The recordings are intended to capture more than physical movements. They will also document how technicians assess situations, test systems, select tools, adapt to changing conditions, and determine whether work has been completed successfully. The launch locations offer different climates for data collection.

The company says service professionals will still be paid while homeowners receive qualifying work at no cost. Founder Thomas Unise described the initiative as a way to connect skilled workers’ expertise with companies developing intelligent machines while allowing homeowners and service providers to benefit financially from that knowledge. Residents can check eligibility through HUMXN’s Free Home Service webpage.
