Book publishers expand use of generative AI
Major book publishers are using generative AI across a growing set of routine and creative production tasks. Publishing staffers told Wired that bots are being used to create cover art, draft emails, write rejection letters, prepare copy for back covers, and generate marketing materials, including AI-generated promotional videos.
Employees have raised concerns with executives about the legal, ethical, and environmental implications of the shift. Those objections have reportedly been brushed aside as “the cost of doing business,” deepening frustration among staffers who see AI becoming embedded in publishing workflows despite unresolved questions about its impact.
