Amazon in talks to buy Decart for $7 Billion
Amazon is negotiating to acquire AI startup Decart for $7 Billion, a move aimed at expanding its capabilities in AI chips, robotics and cloud infrastructure. Decart is known for its real-time video editing model Lucy and its environment-simulation model Oasis, technologies that could support Amazon’s autonomous robots and drones.
The company’s focus is tied to its Trainium3 chips. Decart’s technology could make it easier for developers to switch between different AI chips, helping Amazon compete more directly with Nvidia in custom hardware and strengthen its position in cloud infrastructure through Amazon Web Services.
Decart’s valuation was $4 Billion in May 2026 and has since climbed to $7 Billion. Anthropic also tried to buy the startup for $6 Billion but withdrew in September 2026. The deal has not been finalized, and integration into AWS at large scale could prove difficult. Investors are watching whether the potential acquisition can deliver clear performance gains or profitability benefits.
