UK and Germany open tech corridor for AI and deeptech

·1 min read

Britain and Germany have launched an industrial tech corridor designed to help companies form cross-border partnerships, attract investment and adopt technologies including AI, robotics, fusion energy and quantum. Announced as the UK prime minister visited Berlin, the corridor is a flagship initiative under the Kensington Treaty, the bilateral friendship agreement between the two countries.

The programme is backed by German companies including Allianz, Bosch, RWE and Siemens, and aims to connect high-growth tech firms with major industrial partners and investors. MicroAGI, a Munich-based robotics research company, plans to expand in London and create 180 new, high-paid jobs. Proxima Fusion will expand its Culham base, with the potential to quadruple its workforce at the site by 2028.

The countries will also share some €20 million to accelerate joint quantum research. Quantexa, a UK-based AI software company, is committing to build a dedicated sovereign unit in Germany to support deployment in both countries, while officials framed the corridor as a way to strengthen digital sovereignty and scale companies across advanced AI ecosystems.
