Infineon targets longer USB 20 Gbps links for machine vision
Infineon Technologies AG announced a PCI Express Gen 4 x4 add-on card reference design aimed at removing adoption barriers for USB 20 Gbps (USB 3.2 Gen 2×2) in machine vision systems. Debuting at VISION Stuttgart 2026, the standalone design integrates ASMedia’s ASM4242 USB4 host controller with Infineon’s EZ-PD CCG7 USB Power Delivery controller.
The design focuses on improving signal integrity and power handling, two issues that have limited wider industrial use of the standard despite its higher bandwidth. Infineon says the reference design enables reliable data transmission over 5-meter passive USB cables, helping support camera deployments where devices are positioned far from the host PC.
