VSMC opens first 300 mm fab in Singapore

VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Pte. Ltd. has opened its first 12-inch (300 mm) fab in Tampines, Singapore, marking a key milestone for the joint venture formed by Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation and NXP Semiconductors N.V. in September 2024. The facility has completed construction and entered the risk production stage, with volume production scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027.

The opening ceremony brought together Singapore government and industry representatives, including Dr. Tan See Leng, Singapore’s Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry); Mr. Png Cheong Boon, Chairman of the Singapore Economic Development Board; and Ms. Jacqueline Poh, Chief Executive Officer of JTC Corporation. Representatives from TSMC, partners, customers, suppliers, industry associations, government agencies, and management teams from VSMC, VIS, and NXP also attended.

Established in 2024, VSMC broke ground in December of the same year and completed construction after 22 months. The fab has processed its first sample lot with yields above 99%, and will support process technologies ranging from 130 nm to 40 nm for mixed-signal, power management, analog, and interposer applications across high-performance computing, mobile, automotive, industrial, and consumer markets.
