MaxLinear launches Puma 9 for DOCSIS 4.0 upgrades
MaxLinear announced Puma 9, a next-generation DOCSIS platform for broadband operators moving toward D4.0/D3.1+ multi-gigabit services. The platform is designed to support Edge AI, personal AI and Wi-Fi 8 connectivity while reducing the cost and complexity of transitioning to DOCSIS 4.0.
Puma 9 adds Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) security readiness and DDR5 memory compatibility, positioning operators to protect networks against future threats and limit supply chain exposure tied to legacy memory types. The platform uses a secure-by-design approach and is designed to support compliance with cybersecurity frameworks and regulations including NIST IR 8425A (U.S.), Radio Equipment Directive (RED), and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) (EU).
