New York starts RAISE Act rollout

New York officials began the next phase of the state’s Responsible AI Safety and Education Act on Monday, moving toward a registration requirement for large frontier AI developers. The requirement is set to begin in November and marks a key implementation step for a law described as a landmark state AI safety measure.

State officials also indicated that additional AI regulation could arrive as soon as next year’s legislative session. Discussions are expected to include further legislation, stronger oversight and potential penalties for noncompliance, signaling that New York may continue expanding its regulatory framework for developers of advanced AI systems.
