YMTC aims to lead the NAND flash market by 2027

·1 min read

YMTC is aiming to become the world’s largest NAND Flash maker by the end of 2027, setting its sights on overtaking Samsung and SK hynix. The goal was shared with investors and stakeholders ahead of an initial public offering planned for the Shanghai Stock Exchange, with proceeds intended to upgrade facilities and speed research and development.

The Wuhan-based company recently became the third-largest player in the industry during Q2. Samsung led the global NAND Flash shipment market with 25%, while SK hynix and subsidiary Solidigm held 22%. YMTC moved into third place after bit shipments rose 22% year-over-year and 5% quarter-over-quarter, putting it ahead of Micron, Kioxia, and Sandisk.
