Volta claims $10B Norway AI factory deal

Volta, an AI cloud startup backed by Nvidia, Andreessen Horowitz and Michael Dell’s family office, plans to build AI factories in Norway and other markets as it targets multiple gigawatts of capacity by 2030. The company emerged from stealth after raising about $300 million across seed and Series A rounds, reaching a valuation of $2.4 billion.

The startup claims a $10 billion strategic partnership with an unnamed AI lab for a Norway facility, reportedly involving Anthropic securing access to Volta’s compute resources over a six-year period. Anthropic declined to comment, and Volta had not provided further details by publication.

Volta plans to develop the 133 MW Norway site with cryptocurrency miner and GPU cloud operator Bitdeer. The facility is expected to use Nvidia Vera Rubin systems and will be the first project in a development pipeline that Volta says exceeds 1 GW of capacity across North America and Europe.

The company says its model combines infrastructure finance, datacenters, compute, software and operations under one roof, using Nvidia’s DSX reference architecture and software tooling to support AI factory design, simulation, construction and operation.
