Google Cloud and NVIDIA back German robotics startup Microagi
Google Cloud and NVIDIA are supporting Munich-based Microagi as the robotics startup expands development and deployment of embodied AI systems for commercial and industrial use. Microagi builds software for adapting robotics models to specific tasks rather than manufacturing robots, with its Atlas platform fine-tuning models on data from customer operations.
Under the collaboration, Microagi will use Google Cloud’s AI infrastructure and NVIDIA Blackwell systems to scale model training and inference. The infrastructure will include NVIDIA RTX Pro 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs and GB300 NVL72 systems through Google Cloud, alongside Google AI models and tools for processing multimodal information including video.
Microagi works with manufacturers and robotics providers across automotive, logistics, food and hospitality. The agreement follows a $55 million seed funding round that Microagi plans to use partly for expanded computing capacity and real-world data collection.
The deal highlights how robotics development increasingly relies on real-world data, cloud platforms and specialized chips. Faster access to computing resources could benefit European startups, while dependence on US cloud and semiconductor providers raises longer-term questions about technological sovereignty, infrastructure concentration and control over industrial AI systems.
