Intel plans €5 billion expansion at Irish chip campus
Intel announced a €5 billion capital investment at its Leixlip campus in Ireland as part of the next phase of capacity expansion at the site. The company said demand for AI and high-performance computing is increasing the need for advanced silicon used to power AI Factories, with the Irish operations set to support Intel Xeon 6 and next gen Intel Xeon production on the Intel 3 node.
The investment is intended to expand current production output, advance research and development activities and make use of capacity across existing cleanroom space. Intel said the effort will strengthen Europe’s semiconductor supply chain while addressing industry demand.
The expansion includes upgrades to existing fabrication facilities and installation of leading-edge manufacturing equipment. Planned infrastructure work also includes expanding the automated track system to connect separate campus modules into a single, high-velocity production environment.
