CXMT moves closer to Micron-scale DRAM capacity

·1 min read

CXMT is expanding DRAM manufacturing quickly enough to challenge Micron, one of the world’s largest memory suppliers. Citrini Research projects CXMT will produce about 350,000 DRAM wafers per month by the end of 2026 if current projects are completed on schedule. Micron is estimated to produce about 375,000 DRAM wafers per month by the end of 2026, assuming its own capacity expansions are fulfilled.

The pace of construction is a key factor in CXMT’s rise. The company is building cleanrooms in around 12 months, compared with the DRAM industry’s typical 21-24 months. U.S. sanctions and blacklist restrictions have limited CXMT’s access to modern EUV scanners, forcing the company to rely on older DUV lithography tools and multi-patterning techniques. Even with those constraints, CXMT is moving toward output levels comparable to a long-established global memory supplier.
