Intel raises chip prices as AI demand strains supply

·1 min read

Intel is raising prices on its core server and laptop processors as demand for AI infrastructure outpaces available market supply. The company is negotiating long-term volume and pricing agreements with customers, tying the move directly to pressure across AI supply chains and the buildout of data centers.

The pricing shift affects the Xeon server processor series and the Core Ultra laptop chip series, signaling stronger pricing power as customers continue to seek AI-capable server capacity. Intel’s stock price stands at approximately $109.84 after a surge of 178.9% since the beginning of the current year, though shares fell 8.7% over the past week and 11.8% over the past month.

Higher average selling prices and long-term contracts could improve Intel’s profit margins, revenue visibility and capacity planning. The strategy also carries risks if cloud customers respond by shifting workloads to AMD, ARM-based server platforms or customized solutions, especially if performance or total cost of ownership becomes more attractive elsewhere.
